This large poster advertized the "Bedelia" cyclecar, made in France from 1913- 1925. Signed "Joe Bridge," an artist (1886-1967) who was noted for his work in automotive and sports scenes.
The French logo translates, "All camels - the cyclecar Bedelia - are sober, robust and fast." There were many makers of the low and light cycle car, which were really a large motorcycle for two.
A "Bedelia" driver steered from the rear seat, the passenger pulled levers on a drive belt to shift gears from the front seat, so it was impossible to drive alone. A Bedelia won the 1913 Cycle Car Grand Prix at Amiens.
This poster shows Art Deco design and was printed on paper around 1920, it was previously folded causing wrinkles and holes as shown. There is an inscription by the Paris printer at bottom right.
The simple wood and glass frame dates from the 1960's, measuring 64" wide, 3" deep and 49" tall overall.
