Bombe Burl Carved Antique Vanity or Dressing Mirror

This elegant vanity or dressing mirror has flowing and graceful lines, and is richly hand-carved at the edges with "bombe" or convex panels of walnut burl. There is a black glass top and hand-painted mirror.
This is dramatic and artistic Northern Italian villa furniture, crafted about 1910 with exquisite workmanship. The original satiny finish has been polished, it has wonderful warm golden brown patina and lots of antique character. Typical of intricate burl grain - there are tiny separations, bubbles and irregularities.
Brasses are original, drawers have hand cut dovetails and the shaped glass top is in excellent condition. The hand-carved burnished gold mirror has slight wear and there is a hint of "smoke" in the plate mirror to show its age.
Measurements are 52" wide, 15" deep and 6' tall.
