This Empire period "rope" bed from about 1840 still has pegs at the ends where ropes were stretched as a primitive "spring."
Carved of solid cherry, posts are turned of single cherry logs with acorn finials. The headboard panel is scrolled on this American made furniture, said to be from Pennsylvania.
Modern steel side rails in photos are included. The demonstrator standard full or double size mattress and pallet frame as shown is 12" thick together and is not included.
The old finish could be original and has warm antique patina, preserving mars and dings for a little character. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain the soft luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
Size is 56" wide, 84" long and 48" tall.
