Authentic country French or provincial furniture from about 1780, a magnificent one door armoire was hand-crafted of solid chestnut hardwood.
Artistic carving is masterful, wooden pegs secure the joints. A hand wrought iron lock and hardware appear original, and we have cut a giant brass key to operate the door lock.
The finish is excellent with glowing warm antique patina and lots of character - shrinkage separations, mars, chips and stains in the wormy chestnut, see photos. This historic armoire is very usable, the back and floor show later rebuilding.
For easier moving, the crown is removable. Measurements of this beautiful historic piece from northern France are 47" wide, 29" deep and 7' 6" tall.
