Hand carved about 1910 of oak with rosewood panels, this sideboard or server is in exceptionally fine condition. The finish is excellent inside and out, tray like drawers slide smoothly and an elaborate lock operates with a key.
This distinctive Dutch design with deeply molded panels and large bun feet is a variation of the traditional "Kas" or dowry armoire that descended with the daughter of a family. The design dates from the 1600's, and this server would have been a part of a lavish dowry from an affluent family.
The top has refectory or self-storing pull out ends. Dimensions of this antique furniture from Holland are 25" deep, 35" tall and 44" wide when closed, with both 19" pull out leaves extended, width is 82" total.
