This lovely American Empire period swivel-top game table was carved of mahogany about 1840. There are compartments for storage, cards and game pieces were usually hidden inside under the flip top.
The legs are gracefully curved and there is a hand dovetailed drawer with a working lock and key.
Mahogany with flame-grain panels, the satiny finish is excellent on this strong and substantial east coast American antique. There is a small shrinkage separation and warp due to age in the top, see photos. The top flips on its original recessed brass hinges.
Closed, size is 28" wide, 16" deep and 29 1/2" tall, open size is 32" by 28" and 29" tall.
