A classical French mantel clock has a black marble case and bronze mounts. Dating from about 1880, there are small chips at the edges plus a repair across the top of the marble, see photos.
The precision brass movement has been professionally cleaned and oiled and keeps accurate time when carefully leveled. Running a week on a winding, it counts the hour and strikes the half on a silvery toned bell.
It is signed on the back, "Japy Freres (Brothers) & Cie (Company), Gde Med. D'Honneur" (Gold Medal of Honor)."
Behind a beveled glass bezel, the embossed bronze dial is especially beautiful on this antique clock. Measurements are 19" long, 6" deep and 11 1/2" tall.
