The country woodcarvers of Brittany displayed their amazing heritage of folk expertise in this charming nightstand or table with a marble top. Hand-made of solid chestnut hardwood in the early 1900's, the finish is excellent. There are minor scratches in the marble - see photo.
Brittany or Bretagne is a maritime province of northwest France. Formerly a separate country, the "Breton" language is still spoken. Famous for their cultural traditions and distinctive dress, the local hand-carved furniture has outstanding workmanship, using native local hardwoods with picturesque traditional motifs.
Size is 16" wide, 15" deep and 45" tall.
