This stately Georgian Scottish tall case or grandfather clock from the capital city of Edinburgh is in excellent running condition and dates from the 1820's. Mahogany with shaped columns, the case has a very fine finish, enhancing the beautiful flame grain panels and door. Note old shrinkage cracks typical on furniture of this age.
The artistically painted dial appears original, depicting a pensive girl in a garden, looking like a scene from Jane Austen. Numerals and center of the dial have been repainted, and we can barely see the shadow of letters "J. Romba(?)" and "P. Gollie(?), Edinburgh" that have been overpainted.
A professional clockmaker has cleaned, oiled and adjusted the original 8 day movement, a bell strikes the hour. Even the calendar works on this historic antique clock. Measurements are 21" wide, 10" deep and 7'2" tall.
