This long case or grandfather clock from the German Arts and Crafts period about 1900 is signed, "FMS" for famous maker, Friedrich Mauthe and Sons from the Black Forest.
Professionally cleaned and oiled, the precision brass movement keeps excellent time and runs a week on a pull chain winding. The unusual action plays three notes on the first quarter hour, 6 on the half, 9 on the 3/4 hour and counts the hour softly on a different note.
The oak case shows "Secessionist" influence, and has an excellent dark finish. Original patinated brass mounts have beautiful deep color. Door glass is beveled on this European antique furniture. Measurements are 28" wide, 17" deep and 82" tall.

This clock needs to be "set up" when delivered - weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone. The process is not very difficult, and it is also nice to know how to do this again whenever the clock needs to be moved for cleaning, painting or whatever.
A few customers prefer to hire a local clockmaker at their own expense to make a house-call and set up the clock, which is usually not very expensive, depending on your location.
