Signed by the famous and historic maker, "Gillow & Co.," a magnificent hand carved oak back bar or server dates from about 1900. The beautiful finish is in excellent condition on fine grained solid oak. Expertly carved details are in high relief, hand cut dovetail joinery is visible. Heavy embossed bronze hardware is original, the mirror has a wide bevel.
Founder Robert Gillow began work about 1730 in England and was eventually joined by his sons and descendants. The "Gillows of Lancaster" flourished for over two centuries with branches in London and the West Indies, until closed by bankruptcy in 1962.
A true masterpiece - the finest workmanship shows in every detail of this grand and historic furniture - fit and finish are stellar in every regard.
This imposing cabinet disassembles for moving. Measurements are 103" long, 32" deep, 75" tall and the base is 43" high.
