Signed by America's finest maker of tall case or grandfather clocks, this "Herschede" clock dates from the 1940's. All original, the mahogany case has an excellent finish.
The dial includes "strike/silent" settings. This clock plays the familiar "Westminster" chime or Whittington and St. Michael's melodies on the set of 9 nickel chime tubes with deep resonant tone. The melody sounds on each quarter hour, plus an hour strike. Brass pendulum and three weights have a satin polish.
Above the gold plated filigree dial is a moon cycle. Professionally cleaned and oiled, the 8 day movement keeps accurate time. Measurements are 22" wide, 14" deep and 80" tall.
