This traditional Netherlands "Kas" or armoire is a dowry cabinet hand made around 1915.
Fine grained oak has accents of genuine rosewood and ebony, exotic wood from colonies in the Dutch West Indies. The original finish is in excellent condition, waxed and buffed so all that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
The classic design includes raised panels, a large crown, bun feet and a hand carved frieze around the top. A key operates the working lock.
This antique furniture would have held a young woman's linens and silver, and moved with her when she married.
Measurements are 37" wide at the crown, 29" wide in the body, 20" deep and 64" tall.
