This Georgian Chippendale design secretary desk and bookcase from the 1940's has refined lines and exceptional workmanship. The top has a well proportioned pediment and finial. Four feet are carved ball and claw design, drawer fronts have serpentine or "ox bow" curves. Supports automatically extend under the drop front when opened, inside are "secret" drawers and cubicles.
The gleaming deep finish on mahogany is excellent. Lower drawers are dovetailed, locks and key work. The upper bookcase section has an adjustable shelf and is removable for shipping on this American classic vintage furniture.
Size is 35" wide, 19" deep, 79" tall and the writing surface is 29" high.
