This stunning desk is a hand-made replica of George Washington's desk - one of the most famous desks in American. George Washington's desk is currently displayed in the New York City Hall. It is signed under the top, "Made by Robert Burger, 1987," see photo.
It appears to be solid mahogany everywhere, the drawers have hand-dovetailed oak sides. There are letter racks at both ends, and false drawers with brass pulls on three sides, feet are also solid brass.
The lustrous finish is superb, and all drawers fit well and slide smoothly. Famous maker "Kittinger" also copied this desk, and one was used by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
Measurements are 7' long, 3' wide, 34 1/2" tall, and the top is 29" above the floor. The kneehole is 30" wide and 26 1/2" tall at the center. The chair in the last photo isn't included.
