Pair of Carved Italian Nightstands or Bedside Tables
Hand carved in Italy about 1900, a grand pair of nightstands or bedside tables has graceful artistry and matched burl panels. The glowing finish is excellent with warm rich patina and lots of antique character - tiny irregularities, shrinkage separations and small mars at the edges.
Original hardware is heavy cast brass. Curving panels of quarter matched "oyster" burl have intricate natural grain. Opulent frames are deeply carved in high relief, they are strong and sturdy. This palatial furniture was crafted near Turin in northern Italy. Drawers are hand dovetailed.
Measurements are 21" wide, 14" deep and 36 1/2" tall, the surface height is 31 1/2".
