Hand made in the mid 1800's, a pine "treasure chest" trunk from Scandinavia has wrought iron bindings and handles. The finish is very fine with warm antique patina and lots of character. There are stains and wear from almost two centuries of use.
Corners have hand cut dovetails, hand planing marks are on every surface. Hand wrought iron bands and rose cut nails are authentic. Inside this picturesque northern European furniture is a small compartment for valuables.
Gracefully "domed," a safety chain has been added to the heavy lid. The lock is long gone, probably from a burglary attempt. We assume this once belonged to a pirate.
Measurements of this wonderful rustic chest are 45" long, 25" deep and 25" tall.
