Renaissance Carved Oak Antique Partner Desk, Chair, and Bookcase

A spectacular library set was carved of solid oak in the Renaissance manner about 1910. Hand carved figures and motifs in high relief show remarkable artistry. The original finish is very well preserved, it has been waxed and polished and requires only an occasional rub with a dry cloth to retain its warm antique patina.

The bookcase has a center door with hand leaded wavy glass panes. Wrought iron hardware is original, drawers have dovetailed joints. Locks and key work. Three banks of shelves are adjustable on wooden supports. Side panels are raised.

Dimensions of the bookcase are 75 1/2" wide, 20" deep and 69 1/2" tall.

The library partner's desk was carved of solid oak. The top has been revarnished for durability. Each "partner" has three drawers plus two compartments with sliding trays. Wrought iron hardware is original, drawers have dovetailed joints. Locks and key work. Side panels are raised.

Dimensions of the desk are 64" long, 34" wide and 31" tall, the kneehole is 21" wide and 24 1/2" high.

A spectacular desk or hall chair has a hand carved family crest with lion and grape motifs in high relief. With a strong and tight frame, this large chair is comfortable. Old leather upholstery has brass nailheads.

Dimensions of the chair are 24" wide, 25" deep, 45" tall and the seat is 19" high.

This set was expertly crafted in France for a library in a grand country house.
