A spectacular library partner's desk was carved of solid oak in the Renaissance manner about 1910. Hand carved figures and motifs in high relief show remarkable artistry. The original finish is very well preserved, it has been waxed and polished and requires only an occasional rub with a dry cloth to retain its warm antique patina.
The top has been revarnished for durability. Each "partner" has three drawers plus two compartments with sliding trays. Wrought iron hardware is original, drawers have dovetailed joints. Locks and key work. Side panels are raised on this historic furniture, expertly crafted in France for for the library in a grand country house.
Dimensions are 64" long, 34" wide and 31" tall, the kneehole is 21" wide and 24 1/2" high.
