A spectacular library bookcase was carved of solid oak in the Renaissance manner about 1910. Hand carved figures and motifs in high relief show remarkable artistry. The original finish is very well preserved, it has been waxed and polished and requires only an occasional rub with a dry cloth to retain its warm antique patina.
The center door has hand leaded wavy glass panes. Wrought iron hardware is original, drawers have dovetailed joints. Locks and key work. Three banks of shelves are adjustable on wooden supports. Side panels are raised on this historic furniture, expertly crafted in France for the library in a grand country house.
Dimensions are 75 1/2" wide, 20" deep and 69 1/2" tall.
Matching pieces of this resplendent library set in photos are priced and sold separately, call or email for availability.
