Scottish 1840 Folk Painted Trunk, Chest or Coffee Table, Secret Compartments

A charmingly hand painted folk art 1840's trunk or chest from Scotland also makes a marvelous coffee or cocktail table.
The original hand graining on poplar hardwood has just enough wear for a little antique character, and has been preserved with clear varnish. Inside are small drawers and a double "secret" compartment behind.
The lower drawer has hand cut dovetail joinery. Brass pulls are original, the upper lock is missing on this historic furniture.
Measurements are 44" long, 23" deep and 24" tall.
