Semanier French Marble & Marquetry Lingerie Chest

This French "Semanier," or "weekly," 7 drawer lingerie chest has a drawer for each day. Expert craftsmanship and beautiful European design is only part of the charm of this exquisite antique chest with a marble top.
It was made with beautiful mahogany, tulipwood, satinwood and rosewood with intricate banding. The heavy weight bronze mounts are all original. The polished original finish on the gracefully curved front and sides is excellent, there is a warp on the top drawer, see photos.
Elegantly shaped, the marble top is beautiful and also in excellent condition. A key operates the all locks except for 2 on this fine furniture from about 1920, and solid oak-sided drawers have dovetails, they are finished inside to avoid snagging silks.
Size of this charming and very well crafted furniture is 15" wide, 12 1/2" deep and 50 1/2" tall.
