A set of bone handle and steel blade forks and knives dates from the Civil War era, about 1860. Well used by a single family, the tines are worn, and the natural bone is warped and cracked on some of the pieces.
The set includes 5 matching 9 1/2" knives, one with a significant loss to the handle and 6 matching (plus one slightly different) forks, 7 1/2" long. This antique American flatware recalls a bygone age.
