This authentic Sheraton period console table has a swivel and flip top, opening into a game table. Dating from about 1825, condition is remarkably fine.
Entirely hand made, the tops are cut from single wide planks of beautifully figured mahogany. Spiral turned legs terminate in original cast brass ferrules and wheels. The heavy frame is joined with large hand-cut dovetails.
The gleaming deep rich finish is excellent. When the top is turned, a compartment for game pieces is revealed. Said to be from New York, this strong and usable American furniture is iconic.
This lovely table is beautiful used as a console table, with one leaf up against the wall or in the open game format.
Measurements of this well-proportioned table are 36" wide, 30" tall and 18" deep when closed, open size is 36" square and 29" tall.
