Sperling Iron Antique Balance Scale, Griffins
This rugged cast iron balance scale has embossed griffins plus brass pans and stylized birds - when their beaks meet, the pans are balanced.
Signed "Julius Z. Sperling," there are hallmarks, a serial number and "1947," which may be a date, although this scale looks more like 1900 than 1947. Made in Central Europe, probably in Germany, this scale would have been used with a separate set of weights.
Size of this industrial antique is 19" long, 8" deep and 7" tall.
