Stately and elegant in a English country manor, a tall case or grandfather clock dates from about 1800. The exquisite case is quarter sawn oak, inlaid with rosewood, mahogany and satinwood, the old finish is very well preserved and has warm antique patina.
A hand painted fox hunting scene surmounts the Roman numeral dial. Old wavy glass in the arched door is beautiful. The brass 8 day hand made movement has been professionally cleaned and oiled, it keeps excellent time and strikes the hour.
Weights and pendulum appear original, the winding crank is a replacement. There are shrinkage separations from age, see photos, and the base has had repairs.
Made in England, this historic furniture embodies classic late Georgian design. Measurements are 22" wide, 10" deep and 83" tall.
