This "Victrola" phonograph from about 1920 has an electric motor instead of a wind up mechanism, signed "Model VV-XIV." There is an engraved plate for the electric drive that was original equipment installed at the Victor factory, shown by the "E" after the serial number. It reads "K and D Electric Drive, HA Robbins, Boston, Mass.," and was a more expensive option for those lucky customers who had electricity.
Inside the lid is the famous decal of the dog "Nipper" listening to "His Master's Voice," and the gold signature of "Lyon and Healy," the Chicago music store that originally sold the record player.
This American made antique plays well, volume control is soft - both doors closed, medium - one door open and loud - both doors open. The mahogany case is all original - in good condition with some crazing or crackling from age and wear - see photos.
A group of records and albums are included as shown. Measurements are 22" wide, 24" deep and 49" tall.
