A spectacular Victorian Renaissance period triple bookcase has its original finish from about 1870. This large and stately furniture separates into four pieces for moving.
Chestnut, walnut, elm burl and even an inlay of ebony marquetry at the crest are incorporated into this palatial showpiece. There have been various touchups to the finish over many years, there is warm patina and lots of character - mars, stains and wear plus a few shrinkage separations - see photos. There is a tiny chip in the glass on the lower pane of the center door.
All three banks of shelves are adjustable on wooden supports. Drawers have round "pin-and-cove" dovetails.
Dimensions of this historic American east coast antique are 6' 4" wide, 20" deep and 8' 2" tall.
