A wonderful "Windsor 1890 Patent Washstand" desk and sink may have been used on a ship or train compartment.
Solid quarter sawn oak, under the desk is a porcelain sink and marble counter, above is a beveled dressing mirror.
The finish is in excellent condition with fluted columns and a swivel beveled mirror supported by carved griffins. On the back side is a label with directions for staff to fill and empty.
Originally, there was a reservoir to fill with fresh water that was removed when the sink was converted to running water. The collection pail is still in place under the sink, it could be removed and this sink and vanity could be connected by a plumber.
On the front is an engraved label by the maker, "Windsor Folding Bed Co." of Chicago. Three drawers have original brasses. The "Tennessee Red" marble counter has a few stains and scratches, see photos.
Measurements of this intriguing antique American furniture are 30 1/2" wide, 27" deep and 5' 6" tall.
