An Empire period console table opens to form a game table, and was hand carved with paw feet about 1825. Solid mahogany is accented with flame grain. The restored finish is in excellent condition, preserving some shrinkage separations from age in the tops, which are cut from single wide planks, see photos.
When opened, the top has shrunk slightly so that it doesn't quite cover the apron or skirt as shown. There are losses and separations at the bottom of the center column, see photos.
American made antique furniture from the East Coast, the column pedestal base is richly detailed. There is a "secret" compartment under the flip and swivel top.
Measurements when closed in console position are 35" wide, 17" deep and 29 1/2" tall, when opened the top is 35" x 34."
