A splendid 1890 era armoire, wardrobe or closet was hand carved in France in the Louis XVI manner.
Solid oak and chestnut, the original finish is very well preserved and has been waxed and buffed. The traditional crest with a quiver of arrows and a torch is masterfully carved in high relief. All that is needed to maintain the warm luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. There are shrinkage separations from age, see photos.
Back panels are hand chamfered with wooden pegs at the joints.
The original shaped and beveled mirror has a few losses and antique "smoke" to show its age as shown. The heavy door needs a little lift to close, its double throw lock and key still operate. Interior shelves adjust on wooden supports.
This historic furniture can be disassembled into many pieces if necessary for delivery. The lower drawer has hand cut dovetail joints, the key is a handle only as the lock does not work.
Measurements are 61" wide at the crown, 23" deep, 8' tall and interior depth is 15."
