An Empire period dropleaf table from about 1825 was used to serve breakfast in the morning and tea in the afternoon, and could also be a sofa, console or hall table.
The restored satiny finish is in excellent condition on this East Coast American made antique furniture. Top and leaves are cut from single figured planks of solid mahogany.
The classical acanthus carved pedestal has scrolled legs with intricately detailed paw feet. There are various restorations over the centuries. At both ends is a drawer with hand cut dovetail joints. Dropleaves rest on supports with carved wood hinges.
Measurements are 36 1/2" deep, 30" tall and 25" wide when closed, with both leaves raised, width is 52."
