A country dough box or proofing trough for bread was used for making serious quantities of dough. It was hand hewn of solid wormy oak in France during the later 1700's.
The restored dark finish is in excellent condition on this rustic furniture. Every surface shows the marks from hand tools, faceted hand made iron nails are visible. There are shrinkage separations and lots of wear and stains for antique character. Later bottom cleats are removable.
