An authentic Georgian period mahogany tall chest on chest or highboy dates from about 1760.
The restored finish is in excellent condition on this antique furniture, which has various restorations over the centuries. There are shrinkage separations from age, see photos.
Cast brass pulls appear original. Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and chamfered bottoms. As was often done in England, drawers have glued newspaper linings from Hull, some dated 1812-3. There are 18th Century rose cut nail heads. Feet have been rebuilt. The upper section is removable for easier delivery.
Measurements are 44" wide at the crown, 21" deep and 67 1/2" tall.
