A charming pair of statues from about 1900 are inscribed "La Pecheur" and "La Pecheuse," or Fisher Boy and Girl. These naturalistic works of art show their unselfconscious concentration while fishing.
This pair of sculptures were cast in spelter, a metal alloy similar to pewter. The original shaded patina finish is in very fine condition on these antiques from France. For easier shipment, the boy's pole is removable. We find no artist's signature.
Size is 7" x 7" and 21" and 24" tall.
