An authentic Country French armoire or wardrobe was hand carved of solid oak about 1760. Raised panels, fine detailing, wooden pegs and the hand hewn back show masterful 18th Century artistry.
The old finish is very well preserved with mars and shrinkage separations from age. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
Wrought iron hardware includes lift-off hinges on the doors on this antique furniture from France. The giant working lock is also original. Inside are removable shelves, depth is 18" so a closet pole could be installed if desired.
Feet have rebuilding, which is typical from over 200 years on damp stone floors. The crown is removable for easier delivery.
Dimensions are 56" wide at the crown, 51" wide in the body, 23" deep and 82" tall.
