A graceful bowfront chest or dresser from the Hepplewhite period in the 1790's is mahogany with richly figured flame grain. The top is a single wide plank with shimmering grain, feet are gracefully turned outwards.
The top has been revarnished for durability, the rest of the the old finish is very well preserved with just enough stains and mars for a little character.
Drawers have solid mahogany sides and pine backs with hand cut dovetail joints. Old ring pulls are solid brass and there are cut square nails on this antique furniture. Construction suggests this classic chest was made in America by a cabinetmaker trained in England.
Measurements are 42" wide, 20" deep and 42" tall.
