Architectural salvage from an early 1900's Chicago bank, this splendid bronze, brass and iron lobby counter could serve as a kitchen island or wine and appetizer table or reception desk.
Sculptures of classical figures with wings are amazing. A filigree frieze around the edge has eagle and angel motifs. A framed photo of this counter in the original marble bank lobby is included.
Solid genuine cast bronze with brass and gilded cast iron parts, there is wonderful antique patina with wear as shown. The 3/4" thick plexiglass top has scratches and wear and is not original, see photos. The original top was thick plate glass, a marble or granite top could be installed if desired.
Cubicle sections on both sides were meant for deposit slips and work nicely for wine bottles.
The original upper section which had a calendar, pen holders and a waste chute is a separate piece that just sits on top.
This antique originally screwed to the floor, not really necessary as it is very heavy. Parts do disassemble if needed for delivery.
Dimensions are 63" long, 39" wide and 39" tall to the top of the plexiglass. The separate center module is 9" x 34" and 12" tall.
