An authentic Country French armoire from about 1750 was hand hewn of solid wormy walnut with graceful moldings and panels.
The old finish is very well preserved, and has been waxed and buffed so all that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. There are warps, gaps, and mars over the centuries for a little antique character on this furniture from France, see photos. Joints have wooden pegs and the back is hewn of solid chestnut.
Lift off door hinges are original. The key is a handle only, the lock does not work. Interior removable shelves are old but not original. The crown lifts off, but the cabinet does not disassemble.
Measurements are 59" wide at the crown, 51" wide in the body, 27" deep and 80" tall.
