This armoire, library file or collector cabinet was deeply hand carved of solid walnut about 1900 in the Renaissance manner for a palazzo in the north of Italy. Deeply sculpted faces and swags of fruit and walnuts are masterful. The door has stained glass behind a wrought iron grill and a working lock.
The restored finish is in excellent condition, preserving a few mars for antique character. Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints on this historic library furniture, inner tray drawers have solid oak sides. There are dividers for ledgers or portfolios inside.
Size is 42 1/2" wide at the crown, 21" deep and 82" tall.
