This traditional hall console was sold as an "apartment" table because it also opened to form a square game table, and could be extended with three leaves for dining. Signed "Paine Furniture Co." about 1940, the design is clever and functional. Crafted of mahogany, the curved skirt or apron has inlaid satinwood banding and flame grain panels.
The restored deep finish is in excellent condition on this American made vintage furniture. When extended, there is a drop down center leg for extra support. Three original leaves are 12" wide. Brass feet and wheels are original.
Size in console position is 39" wide, 20" deep and 30" tall, when open to a game table, the top is 39" x 40," and extended with all three leaves in place, length is 76" overall.
