An authentic Russian "samovar" or traditional hot water tea kettle is solid brass with engraved Cyrillic inscriptions, dating from around 1900. There is a tin wash in the interior that is in very fine condition.
A center "chimney" was filled with hot coals to heat water for tea, a classic sign of hospitality in any Russian novel. The tank holds water and the valve works on this deeply embossed antique.
