This style of adjustable footstool from the Victorian period was called a "gout stool," designed for those who suffered from the painful foot condition, often associated with prosperity. Solid walnut, the frame has an adjustable hinged top on this 1875 era furniture.
The finish was recently restored by an expert, the new upholstery is genuine natural horsehair from France with brass nailhead trim. American made, this is sturdy and strong.
Size is 18" wide, 13" deep, 8" tall when flat, 18" tall when at it's highest point.
