This chest or dresser from the late Victorian or Eastlake period about 1885 has a secret drawer in the base. An upper right false "drawer" has a working lock and is actually a sliding panel, revealing an iron safe inside. Inscribed with a hand painted "Pat. Nov 24, 1885," there is another working lock. The top is "Tennessee Red" marble.
The restored finish is in excellent condition on solid walnut with burl panels on this American made antique furniture. Drawers have original embossed solid brass pulls and dovetail joints.
Measurements are 45" wide, 20" deep and 31" tall.
