An Empire period full or double size bed was originally a "rope bed", where instead of metal spring mattresses, rope would be stretched across as a base for a feather mattress.
- American antique furniture from about 1825
- Flame grain mahogany & solid cherry
- Hand carved pineapple finials and acanthus columns
- Old varnish has been cleaned and preserved with a coat of clear finish
- Minor mars, old repairs, & shrinkage separations - see photos
- Headboard is finished on both sides
- Modern steel rails, mounts and wood cross supports included as shown
- Bed setup is not included
Bed size is 86" long, 57" wide with headboard and footboard 50.5" tall. Slats sit 14" from ground and the demonstrator mattress is 14" thick.
