This primitive farmhouse cupboard, armoire or cabinet was hand hewn of solid elm hardwood about 1790 in France. Joints have wooden pegs and there are loads of mars, wear and shrinkage separations from age for antique character, see photos.
The old finish has warm antique patina and has been waxed and buffed, so all that is needed to maintain its glowing luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
Drawers, floors and the back have been rebuilt with old repurposed lumber. Door panels are "chamfered," or reverse raised.
Doors have working locks. This historic country furniture does not disassemble.
Dimensions are 60 1/2" wide at the crown, 55 1/2" wide in the body, 25" deep and 75" tall, the interior is 20" deep.
