This Victorian period "cash register" is solid mahogany and dates from about 1890, signed "Gledhill & Sons Co., London." The cash drawer sounds a bell when opened.
There is a glass window on the right door, underneath is a ratchet mechanism where rolls of paper were used to record sales. Bottom center is a small drawer for pens. The lock is also signed, there are no keys.
The restored finish is in excellent condition on this antique English artifact. An upper gallery has ribbed and ice crystal pattern glass.
