This stunning genuine Louis XV hand carved fireplace mantel and mirror date from around 1790.
- French antique architectural salvage furniture hand hewn of solid oak
- Fantastically hand sculpted of solid oak with floral & shell motifs and raised panels
- Top surface has been refinished for durability. The rest of the original finish has been waxed and buffed, preserving mars and losses. All that is needed to maintain the soft luster is an occasional wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
- Shrinkage separations from age - see photos
- Original deeply embossed gold plated brass fire surround
- Genuine 24k gold leaf mirror frame
- 1850s replacement plate glass mirror has "smoke" for antique character
- Mantel & mirror are separate, mirror rests on top of mantel
- All pieces need to be secured to a wall
Mantel size is 63" wide, 20.5" deep and 45" tall. Mirror size is 61" wide, 5" deep and 73" tall. Overall height is 118" tall.
