This chest was originally a silver flatware chest dating from about 1900, and was later lined with natural solid cedar, presumably to use as a humidor for cigars.
Solid mahogany, the finish is very well preserved and has been waxed and polished. Only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm patina. Solid brass mounts are original, the presentation plaque was not engraved. There are shrinkage separations inside the cedar lid. It would make a nice jewelry box as well.
Size is 23" wide, 17" deep and 9 1/2" tall.
