A classic Georgian design secretary desk and bookcase was expertly crafted in England about 1850. Beautifully figured mahogany has an excellent restored finish, preserving just enough mars and restorations for a little antique character.
The upper bookcase is removable for easier transport, shelves adjust by sliding in grooves on this historic library furniture. The desk pulls out and when brass buttons are pushed, the front drops. Gold tooled leather has cracked at the folding joint, see photos. Inside are tiny cubicles and drawers with solid mahogany sides and miniature dovetail joints. Behind the lower door are wide tray drawers. Elaborate brasses are original, door locks work with a key, the desk lock has no key.
Measurements are 51" wide, 82" tall, 25" deep and the writing surface is 29" high.
